Maestro, Montreal will be forever grateful to you!

Sue Wehner

Over 16 years of shared music with Maestro Nagano, there have been so many memories. It has been my pleasure and honour to participate in a small way as part of the Honour Circle. Of all the many memories of Maestro’s time with us, perhaps the most poignant and significant was the performance of “Chaakapesh”. This piece said so much about our indigenous brothers and sisters, but also about the Maestro’s sensitivity and desire to reach out to Canada’s North. The performance was rich and symbolic and Maestro’s account at the gala dinner as to how it came to be was fascinating and said everything about the OSM’s beloved conductor. Thank-you, Maestro, and please return often.
